Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc,on December 22, talked on the phone with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
The two government leaders expressed their delight at the robustgrowth of Vietnam – Japan relations across all sectors in 2017. Theyhighlighted exchanges of the two countries high-ranking leaders, including thefirst ever State visit to Vietnam by the Japanese Emperor and Empress and thetrips made by both PMs.
Abe thanked Phuc’s warm reception when he was in Hoi An aspart of his latest Vietnamese trip to attend the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week inNovember. He spoke highly of Vietnam’s role at the event.
The two PMs agreed to continue with their close coordinationin implementing agreements secured by Vietnamese and Japanese top leaders,which cover the exchange of high-ranking delegations, security-defencecooperation, promotion of Japanese investment in Vietnam, and celebrations of the45-year diplomatic ties in 2018.
They also discussed international and regional issues ofcommon concerns.
PM Phuc agreed with the Japanese counterpart’s view that thetwo sides should coordinate to push for the early conclusion of negotiation andsigning of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-PacificPartnership (CPTPP) deal.-VNA
