Edinburg (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhhosted leaders of ten foreign corporations and leading British universities inEdinburg, Scotland, on October 31 (local time), as part ofhis visit to the UK for the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference(COP26).

During the meetings, Chinh held that despite impacts ofthe COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam has been highly regarded by the internationalcommunity for its efforts to fulfill the twin goals of keeping the virus at bayand boosting economic growth, and for remaining a safe and attractive FDIdestination.

Sharing concerns of foreign investors in Vietnam over theCOVID-19 fallout, the PM said the Vietnamese Government and public agencieswill continue to create favourable conditions for them to grow successful and sustainable business inthe long term in the spirit of “harmonizing benefits and sharing risks.”

Meeting Prof. Mohammed Abdel, representative of the UK’s Universityof Liverpool, the Vietnamese leader asked the professor and University of Liverpoolto continue coordinating with Vietnam in training human resources and developingstrategies, policies and mechanisms in response to climate change in the MekongDelta particularly, environment protection, and emerging epidemics.

Agreeing with Chinh’s proposals, Abdel said hisuniversity wants to bolster specific cooperation projects with Vietnam toproduce practical results.

Talking to President of Pacific Land Group PatrickMcKillen, Chinh highly spoke of the group's projects in Vietnam, especially Hanoi BiotechPark, which would help the country in coping with impacts of climate change andemerging epidemics.

McKillen, for his part, voiced his hope to be able to run long-term and stable business in Vietnam and revealed his intention to builda major hub for biotechnology studies in the country.

Chinh also had meetings with business leaders from largeenergy companies, including Enterprize Energy, Siemens, and JAKS Malaysia,during which he welcomed these companies to expand operation in Vietnam andcalled for more private investment in developing and providing hi-techsolutions for energy projects in the country.

All the guests expressed their delight at Vietnam’ssocio-economic development and COVID-19 response, saying they hope theGovernment of Vietnam to maintain and reinforce investment attractionincentives and provide all possible favourable conditions for them./.
