Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc’s visit to Germany from July 5-8 is expected to contributesignificantly to fostering the two countries’ relations, said VietnameseAmbassador to Germany Doan Xuan Hung.

Hung said that during his stay in theEuropean nation, PM Phuc will hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel, meetwith President Frank-Welter Steinmeier and leaders of several States of Germanyand attend a business forum in Berlin.

He will also participate in the G20 Summitin Hamburg, Hung added.

According to the diplomat, after establishingstrategic partnership in 2011, the two countries’ ties have developed rapidly.Germany has become Vietnam’s leading partner in the European Union, especiallyin trade, with two-way trade now about 10 billion USD.

In recent years, more and more Germanbusinesses and localities have eyed investing in Vietnam, he said, adding thatpotential for bilateral cooperation remains huge.

Germany is a leading country in theindustrial revolution, especially in producing renewable energies, and hasexperience in training human resources, developing tourism and protecting theenvironment, which Vietnam can learn from, Hung said.

Meanwhile, Germany appreciates Vietnam’sgolden population structure and considers the country a potential tourismmarket, he added.

The ambassador affirmed that the twoeconomies can support each other, as Germany has demand for human resources andVietnam needs help to develop technology.

Regarding the G20 Summit, Ambassador Hungsaid that it will focus on three main issues: the self-reliance of the worldeconomy and member states’ economies, sustainable development and measures todeal with development-related problems.

As the host of the APEC Summit 2017,coordination between Vietnam and Germany in seeking ways to encourage memberstates to solve theses issues will help the two summits be successful, thuscontributing to global development.

The attendance of Prime Minister Nguyen XuanPhuc and the high-ranking Government delegation at the summit will increase Vietnam’sprestige on the international stage, he added.-VNA
