Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoion November 6 for Executive Chairman of the Chinese Alibaba Group Jack Ma whois in Vietnam to attend the Vietnam E-Payment Forum.
Jack Ma saidthat his visit aims to study Vietnam’s e-commerce along with cooperativeopportunities with Vietnamese partners in this field.
He said theopportunity for e-commerce development of Vietnam remains huge as the countryhas a young and active population.
He expressedhis interest in Vietnam’s master plan on e-commerce development during2016-2020 which targets 30 percent of the population conducting e-commercetransactions by 2020.
To achievethe goal, Jack Ma proposed building policies to hasten non-cash payments,including e-payments on smart phones, and paying attention to speeding up theprocessing of logistics service procedures.
Acknowledgingthe guest’s proposals, PM Phuc assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade toconsider them and boost cooperation with Alibaba.
He askedAlibaba to open a Vietnam store to introduce Vietnamese products to consumersin China, and cooperate with Vietnamese partners in training e-commerce skillsand helping micro enterprises and people gain access to e-commerce.
He said hehopes to receive assistance and investment from Jack Ma and Alibaba Group instart-up funds in Vietnam.
Jack Ma said that he endorsed the creation of the Vietnam store on Alibaba andthat he will work to step up cooperative forms to help develop e-commerce inVietnam.-VNA
