Hanoi (VNA) – Ngoc Linh ginseng from the CentralHighlands should leave a new historical hallmark in Vietnam’s pharmaceuticalsindustry and also become a permanent way for locals to earn their living, PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on January 20.
The Government leader made the statement while attending theopening ceremony to start an exhibition on Kon Tum province’s culture, whichwill last until the end of this year. He was accompanied by many otherhigh-ranking officials of the Government and local administration.
He highlighted that Kon Tum is blessed with many naturalresources, including Ngoc Linh ginseng. After more than 30 years of research,many Vietnamese and foreign scientists have confirmed that it is the rarest andbest root in the world now, indigenous in Kon Tum and Quang Nam provinces.
PM Phuc lauded the holding of the exhibition as a goodchance to popularize Ngoc Linh ginseng and asked relevant authorities to joinhands in turning the cultivation of the valuable root into a way for locals toearn their living.
Concrete strategies should be worked out so that Ngoc Linhginseng and its products can reach foreign markets, the leader stressed.
Visitors to the exhibition can have a chance to have an insighton the environment and the biodiversity of the region which is home to NgocLinh ginseng, as well as the discovery, study and cultivation of thepharmaceutical root.-VNA
