Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc lauded the close coordination of theJapanese embassy and ambassador in promoting the bilateral relations over thepast years during a meeting with Japanese Ambassador Kuinio Umeda in Hanoi onSeptember 12.
Expressing his delightat the growing extensive strategic partnership between the two countries, thePM noted that the number of Japanese investors in Vietnam has been rising,especially in the fields of banking, infrastructure and hi-tech agriculture.
He told the diplomatthat earlier on September 12, he had a working session with the Hanoi NationalUniversity to which the Vietnam-Japan University is a member.
After inspecting theprogress of the Vietnam-Japan University in Hoa Lac, he directed relevantagencies to speed up the implementation of the project, which he described as asymbol of the sound relations between the two countries.
For his part,Ambassador Kuinio Umeda held that the Vietnam-Japan University will contributeto fostering the partnership between the two countries.
He said that many Japanese investors wish to invest in Vietnam,especially in areas such as thermal power development, support industry, hi-techagriculture, and climate change response.
The diplomat alsoexpressed his hope that authorised agencies of both sides will continuecreating favourable conditions for closer connectivity between Vietnamese andJapanese businesses.
Currently, Japan isthe top investor of Vietnam, with more than 5 billion USD registered by the endof June this year, accounting for 26 percent of total foreign investment.-VNA
