Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister NguyenXuan Phuc has issued a dispatch, instructing measures to overcome theconsequences of floods triggered by heavy rains in the central region, which causedhuge losses of lives and assets.
In the document, the PM expressed his condolencesto the families of dead victims and the affected communities and localities.
He stressed that the floods have lasted many daysand requested the People’s Committees of central provinces, relevant ministriesand sectors work together to mitigate losses and help local residents resumenormal life.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is to instructsupervision of reservoirs and power networks to ensure they operate effectivelyand safely while regulating supply of basic goods for residents in the region.
The National Search and Rescue Committee, theMinistry of National Defence and the Ministry of Public Security are requiredto have their forces ready to help local people to cope with floods andimpacts.
Since November 29, heavy rains have hit thecentral region, causing widespread floods that claiming nine lives in QuangNgai province, six in Binh Dinh and three Quang Nam.
Hundreds of houses were collapsed, thousands ofhectares of rice and crops were submerged, roads and other facilities weredamaged in the hardest-hit provinces of Thue Thien – Hue, Quang Nam, Quang Ngaiand Binh Dinh.-VNA
