Hanoi (VNA) – Japan’s official development assistance (ODA)has significantly contributed to Vietnam’s socio-economicdevelopment over the past years, especially in infrastructure development, PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on September 14.
At a Hanoi reception for Shinichi Kitaoka, President of theJapan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the PM said as the agency incharge of coordinating Japan’s ODA to Vietnam, JICA has made remarkablecontributions to cooperation between the two countries.
Vietnamhas used the capital for right purposes and manage it effectively, he said,adding that the quality of ODA projects has also been ensured.
He called on Japan to continue its ODA supply for Vietnam,focusing on high-quality infrastructure, personnel training, climate changeresponse, administrative reform, the utilisation of the Fourth IndustrialRevolution, business environment improvement, and experience exchange inhigh-quality agriculture.
Talking about the Vietnam-Japan University, the PM saidleaders of the two countries will continue to coordinate in seeking suitablemechanisms in support of its development.
PM Phuc expressed his belief that with the fruitfuldevelopment of the bilateral ties, Vietnam and Japan will overcome difficultiesto address issues regarding ODA and non-refundable aid.
The leader highlighted the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategicpartnership and urged the two sides to maintain and uphold the relationship forboth present and future generations.
In any circumstances, Vietnam-Japan relations still developstrongly and firmly, he said.
For his part, Shinichi Kitaoka expressed his delight atVietnam’s socio-economic development over the past 30 years, which was recordedwith the role of Japan’s ODA.
He informed PM Phuc that JICA has implemented manycooperation projects with Vietnam this year, focusing on infrastructuredevelopment, improvement of values of the industry and production,environmental protection, climate change and natural disaster combat, and humanresources development.-VNA
