– PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc lauded orientations to the development of thesouthern coastal province of Binh Thuan for the sake of a green, clean and sustainableeconomy during a local investment promotion conference on April 19.

In his speech to over 240 local andforeign businesses and investors, he said the province’s progresses ininfrastructure, export-import, vocational training, and investment climate haveattracted more businesses and investors to the locality.

On the locality’s development vision,the PM suggested improving the quality of planning, considering it a crucialcondition for sustainable development.

Sectoral, regional and key product planning should not be contradictory andharmful to each other, with a focus being given to strengthening coordinationwith southern economic zone and adjacent provinces, he added.

Affirming the Party and State’spolicy of continuing to socialise resources for development, especially in socio-economicinfrastructure, the leader asked the province to come up with appropriatemeasures to execute the policy, mostly in the public-private partnership model.

He revealed that the government willpromptly embark on several large-scale infrastructure projects in Binh Thuan,such as highway, coastal road, and the Phan Thiet airport.

Commenting on local investmentpromotion, he proposed focusing on fields of strength such as wind and solarenergy, tourism, organic and high-tech agriculture, and processing industry.

On the occasion, Binh Thuan was askedto improve workforce training and become one of the top 20 localitiesnationwide in terms of administrative reform index.

Talking with investors, he urged themto devise long-term and sustainable strategies while doing business in theprovince as well as heed environment protection at the same time.

At the event, investment licenseswere presented to 14 projects worth a total of 43 trillion VND (1.86 billion USD)and a memorandum of understanding on investment in 20 projects worth more than83 trillion VND (3.6 billion USD) was signed.

Endowed with sunny and windy climate,Binh Thuan is well-positioned to develop agro-forestry-fisheries, renewableenergy, green tourism, particularly sea sports and mining. A farming area of27,000ha of dragon fruit with an annual output of over 600,000 tonnes put theprovince in the list of top localities nationwide in terms of dragon fruitcultivation.

Thanks to its 192km coastline, BinhThuan is also one of the four largest fishing grounds in the country with a yearlyseafood production of more than 200,000 tonnes.

Notably, it holds a titanium reserve amounting to 600 million tonnes, orupwards 92 percent of the country’s total.

The resort capital “Mui Ne – Hon Rom”and other well-known destinations welcome more than 4.5 million tourists eachyear, nearly 450,000 of them are foreigners.

So far, 1,281 domestic and foreigninvestors have poured in excess of 230 trillion VND (10 billion USD) in theprovince, 3.68 billion USD of which came from 113 projects from 24 countriesand territories worldwide. - VNA
