PM affirms wish to develop stronger ties with Cambodia

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has affirmed the Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of paying much attention to consolidating and developing ties with Cambodia.

​Phnom Penh (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucheld talks with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen in Siem Reap province, Cambodia, on November 23, during which he affirmedthe Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of paying much attention to consolidatingand developing ties with Cambodia.

At the talks, whichtook place on the threshold of the ninth Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam (CLV) Summit, PM Phuc expressedthe wish that the Vietnam-Cambodia relations would grow in line with the mottoof “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive partnership anddurable sustainability.”

The Vietnameseleader spoke highly of Cambodia’ssocio-economic achievements under the leadership of the Government and theCambodia People’s Party (CPP) as well as PM Hun Sen.

PM Phuc believedthat the ninth CLV Summit will be successful, thereby contributing to theenhancement of cooperation among the three countries.

For his part,PM Hun Sen also affirmed that Cambodiais keen on boosting its relationship with Vietnam.

The two PMs discusseda wide range of issues related to Vietnam-Cambodia ties as well as measures to furtherfoster the bilateral partnership in economy and trade, and to ensure securityand political stability in each country.

Both leadersexpressed their desire to soon complete the border demarcation so as to build thecommon border of peace, friendship, stability and development, thusfacilitating border economic growth and people-to-people exchanges.

PM Phucproposed the Cambodian Government and PM Hun Sen continue creating optimalconditions for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin to stabilise their lives so thatthey could contribute to Cambodia’ssocio-economic development.

The two leadersalso agreed to work closely in the organisation of activities marking the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic relations in 2017, with theattendance at the inauguration ceremony of a bridge connecting Vietnam’s AnGiang province and Cambodia’s Kandal province in early next year as the firstactivity.

On thisoccasion, PM Phuc invited PM Hun Sen and his wife to visit Vietnam soon. The invitation was accepted with pleasure./.
