Phu Tho (VNA) – A series of solutions for socio-economic development in the remaining months of 2024 were put forth by the Standing Committee of the Phu Tho provincial Party Committee at a recent meeting, aiming to achieve the targets set for the year.
Addressing the meeting on June 21, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Minh Chau said 2024 is an important year in completing the targets and tasks of the entire tenure, so the locality has focused on directing the implementation of socio-economic development tasks.
He requested all-level administrations and all sectors to accelerate the implementation of key projects, and take solutions to remove difficulties and support businesses in developing their production and business.
Chau urged that investment promotion methods be reformed with clear focus and priorities, instructing that priority should be given to investment in key and priority areas, business and production projects in special fields, large-scale and environmentally friendly projects, and those with advanced technology, high added value and good potential for budget contribution.
Regarding building the Party and the political system, he requested improving the quality of research and investigation to understand the thinking and social opinions among the people.
He emphasised the necessity to focus on preparing for the organisation of Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 tenure, saying that special attention should be given to admitting party members and preparing personnel for party congresses at all levels.
The conference approved many important documents and reports regarding the implementation of socio-economic development tasks in the first six months of 2024 and orientations for the second half of the year; the adjustment and arrangement of the number of employees and labour contracts in public service units in 2024; the proposal to establish Tan Phu town in Tan Son district; among other important issues.
In the first half of the year, Phu Tho recorded positive changes and achieved important results in economic development. Its economy expanded by 8.16%, ranking 13th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide. The total development investment capital in the locality increased by 15.2%, and the total State budget revenue reached 58.5% of the estimate.
Support policies for production and business were well implemented, resulting in increases of 14.58% and 32.2% in industrial production value and industrial production index (IIP) respectively, while the agricultural sector basically remained stable.
Import and export activities also enjoyed high growth. The investment environment continued to improve significantly, with the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) ranking 10th out of 63 provinces and cities for the first time, jumping by 14 places and placing among the top 10 localities with the best governance quality in 2023.
The locality climbed to the 9th place out of the 63 localities nation in the Public Administrative Reform (PAR) Index ranking, and sixth in the Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services (SIPAS) 2023.
Investment attraction continued to record positive results, with the disbursement rate of public investment capital remaining at a high level.
The provincial People's Committee has directed departments, sectors, and localities to fully implement the Master Programme on State Administration Reform under Resolution No. 76/NQ-CP dated July 15, 2021, and Plan No. 1782/KH-UBND dated May 5, 2021, by the provincial People's Committee on state administrative reform for the period 2021-2025, and annual plans.
In the coming time, the locality will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of coordination between sectors in performing public duties associated with increasing the responsibility of leaders.
It will also pay heed to effectively performing its plan to improve PCI, PAR Index, SIPAS, and the Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) in the 2023-2025 period./.
