Hanoi (VNA) -Invitations are open for a photo contest among Vietnamese and expatriatephotographers to showcase their works on the environment and life.
Titled “Moi Truong Và Cuoc Song (Environment and Life),” the contest will beco-organised by online Vietnam Urban and Environment Magazine and the VietnamAssociation of Photography Artists (VAPA). The aim of the competition is toencourage amateur and professional photographers to explore and interact withtheir environment in daily life.
The organisers want thephotography community to join efforts to protect the environment by developingsustainable relations between humans and nature, said the magazine’seditor-in-chief, Dong Xuan Thu.
It also aims to helppeople to be aware of environmental pollution and raise their awareness toprotect the environment, he added.
The photographs canfeature natural and biodiversity beauty, the interaction between humans andnature and daily activities related to the environment. Participants are alsoencouraged to capture the activities of individuals and organisations aimed atenvironment protection.
The photos shouldreflect how pollution affects the environment and human health.
Participating photographerscan submit coloured or black and white photos of 20cmx30cm. They can submiteither a single photo or a series of photos. Each series should have six toeight photos, and each series can be represented by one candidate. There is nolimit to the number of photos submitted by each photographer. The photos takenfrom 2017 to date will be given priority.
Photographers have totake responsibility for their work’s copyright. The competition organisers willbe allowed to use the winning photos and those selected for exhibition forpromotional activities, such as communication and advertisement, without payingthe photographers.
The photographs that aredeemed unsuitable to Vietnamese customs and morals will be rejected withoutannouncement. The organisers will receive the photos directly in office at Room1802A, M3M4 Building, No.91, Nguyen Chi Thanh street, Dong Da district, Hanoi,or by post.
For online submission,the photographers have to email jpg image files, 5MB or larger in size and 300DPI (dots per inch) in resolution, to cuocthianhmoitruongvacuocsong@gmail.com. The last date for submission is October 20,2018.
The jury will includeveteran photographers from VAPA, veteran journalists and environment experts.
The award ceremony isexpected to be held in November, and the 100 best photos will be showcased atan exhibition in December.-VNA
