Hanoi (VNA) - The Philippine Departmentof Health has noted a sharp rise of measles cases in Manila, prompting healthauthorities to declare on February 6 measles outbreak in the Philippinecapital.
Measles cases in the city rose by 550percent from January 1 to February 6, 2019 compared to the same period lastyear, he added.
As of February 2, at least 861 suspectedcases of measles have been reported all over Manila.
Many of the cases were recorded in thecities of Quezon, Caloocan, Marikina, Pasig, Navotas and Paranaque.
Measles is a highly contagious viraldisease that is transmitted via droplets from the nose, mouth or throat ofinfected persons.-VNA
