Hanoi (VNA) – Philippine Undersecretary of National Defence CardozoM. Luna declared on April 24 that a new navy cooperation pact between thePhilippines and Russia, which is currently under development by a workinggroup, may be signed in July.
The two countries have already drafted thenavy-to-navy agreement, which will be anchored on the bilateral defencecooperation agreement signed in 2017, Cardozo M.Luna told Sputnik in aninterview.
The new deal will focus on exchangeactivities, and aim to develop the Philippines’ capacity, he added.
Also in the interview, the defenceundersecretary stated that his country is interested in developing defencecollaboration with Iran – one of its non-traditional friends.
He emphasised the relationship with Iranwas just starting, adding that the Philippines sent a delegation to Iranearlier this year to look into its defence
capability and defence industry.
The undersecretary is attending the ongoingthree-day Moscow Conference on International Security.-VNA
