Hanoi (VNA) – The two last leaders of a pro-Islamic State (IS)militant group in the southern Philippines, including a top Asian terrorsuspect, have been killed, according to Philippine security sources.
The Philippines’ armed forces have killed Isnilon Hapilon, who is listed amongthe most-wanted terror suspects of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI),and Omarkhayam Maute.
The fighting between the Philippine army and IS militants since May 23 haskilled 822 rebels, 162 soldiers and 47 civilians.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has asked to extend martial law in entireMindanao to the end of the year to crush rebels inspired by the IS militantgroup.-VNA
