Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has just signeda decision on the establishment of Phia Oac-Phia Den National Park in thenorthern mountainous province of Cao Bang to preserve typical ecosystem andbiodiversity.
Covering nearly 10,600 hectares in ThanhCong, Quang Thanh, Phan Thanh and Hung Dao communes and Tinh Tuc town of NguyenBinh district, the park aims to safeguard 90 species of flora and 50 species ofrare and precious fauna as well as protect cultural values, natural landscapesand ecological environment.
Also, natural forests will be recovered and more trees will be planted toincrease forest coverage from 84 percent in 2016 to 95 percent in 2030 andprovide natural habitat for animals and plants.
The park is designated to ensure environmental security and mitigate landerosion and floods, thus helping to stabilise production and improvelivelihoods of local people in downstream regions.
Scientific research and activities will be held to preserve and developendangered genetic sources, rescue wildlife animals and raise public awarenessof the protection of environment and biodiversity.
Furthermore, actions will be taken to develop eco-tourism, thereby contributingto local socio-economic development.-VNA
