Party, State, NA, Gov’t leaders pay tribute to President Quang

Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of the Party, State, National Assembly,Government, Vietnam Fatherland Front and the armed forces, as well asrepresentatives of people nationwide have paid tribute to President Tran Dai Quang at the National FuneralHall in Hanoi on September 26.

The State funeral for Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member and President of theSocialist Republic of Vietnam, is held by the Party Central Committee, NationalAssembly, State President Office, Government and Vietnam Fatherland FrontCentral Committee.

President Tran Dai Quang is laid instate at the National Funeral Hall, No. 5 Tran Thanh Tong, Hanoi.

The respect-paying ceremony startedat 7am. Since early in the morning,delegations from the Party, State, National Assembly, Government, VietnamFatherland Front, the armed forces, and crowds of officials, Party members andpeople of all strata in the capital city and many other cities and provincesnationwide gathered at the National Funeral Hall to pay tribute to thePresident, who devoted his entire life to the revolutionary cause of the Partyand nation.

Family members of President Tran Dai Quang led by his wife Nguyen Thi Hien werethe first to offer incense and flowers to their beloved.

Then, the delegation from the Party Central Committee led by General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong paid homage to the President.

Writing in the funeral guest book, the Party leader noted that President TranDai Quang has made great contributions to the glorious revolutionary cause ofthe Vietnamese Party, State and people, especially the people’s police force,as well as to national construction and defence.

His passing is a great loss to the Party, State and people of Vietnam, hewrote.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, who led the Government delegation, wrote inthe funeral guest book that during over 40 years of his career, President TranDai Quang was always a wholehearted and responsible official who made everyeffort to overcome difficulties and hardships to excellently fulfill all tasksentrusted to him by the Party, State and people.

“He made great contributions to the national renewal, construction anddefence,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who led thedelegation of the NA, wrote that President Tran Dai Quang’s devotion to thebuilding and safeguarding of the country, Party and State and his heart towardthe people will be forever remembered by his comrades and people nationwide.

The respect-paying ceremony continued with the State President Office delegationled by Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh, the Vietnam Fatherland FrontCentral Committee delegation headed by Vice President and General Secretary HauA Lenh, the Defence Ministry delegation led by Minister General Ngo Xuan Lichand the Public Security Ministry delegation headed by Minister Gen. Lieut. Gen.To Lam.

Former Party General Secretaries Le Kha Phieu and Nong Duc Manh, formerPresidents Tran Duc Luong, Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang, former PrimeMinister Nguyen Tan Dung, and former NA Chairmen Nguyen Van An and Nguyen SinhHung also came to pay respect to President Tran Dai Quang.

Also on September 26 morning, many delegations from ministries, centralagencies, cities and provinces nationwide paid homage to the President at theNational Funeral Hall.

Leading a delegation from Ninh Binh province, the homeland of President Quang,Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her deepgrief at the decease of the exemplary figure of the province.

“The Party organisation, authorities and people of Ninh Binh have always beenproud of President Tran Dai Quang,” she wrote in the funeral book.

Many delegations from foreign parties, States and Governments as well asambassadors and charges d’affaires, and representatives from internationalorganisations in Vietnam paid tribute to President Quang.

Among those were the Lao Party and State delegation led by Vice President PhankhamViphavanh and the delegation of Singapore headed by Deputy Prime Minister andCoordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean.

At the same time, respect-paying ceremonies are also taking place at the ThongNhat Hall in Ho Chi Minh City, and in Village 13, Quang Thien commune, Kim Sondistrict, Ninh Binh province.

President Tran Dai Quang passed away at 10:05am on September 21 in Hanoi due toserious illness at the age of 62.-VNA
