Party Politburo asks army to renovate

The Communist Party of Vietnam politburo has asked the army to strengthen the army’s combat capacity as a key force in national defence, putting it as core element in the next term of the Party Congress.
The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) politburo has asked the army tostrengthen the army’s combat capacity as a key force in nationaldefence, putting it as core element in the next term of the PartyCongress.

The Party elite told the CentralMilitary Party Committee of the assignment during a working sessionchaired by Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh on August 26 to discuss armypreparations for its Party Congress for the 2010-15 term.

Party organisations in the army should continue renovating in acomprehensive way, focusing on strengthening the leadership capacity andthe combat power, said the Party politburo.

“Military Party units should strengthen the national defence capacity tofoil all sabotage attempts by hostile forces, win in all cases and playa key role in safeguarding the territorial integrity, thus contributingto political and social stability and peace as well as firmly defendingthe Socialist Republic of Vietnam.”

The Politburorecognised great efforts made by the military Party Committee inovercoming numerous difficulties and challenges, both at home and globe,especially sabotage attempts by the enemy, over the past five years.

The Party Politburo lauded the military Party Committee’sachievements as a key force in overcoming natural disasters, especiallyin search and rescue work, and working closely with relevant agencies inproviding timely consultancy for the Party and State on issues ofmilitary and national defence.

“These efforts havecontributed to safeguarding national sovereignty and the environment ofpeace and stability for the national construction and defence,” saidPolitburo members.

They also praised the CentralMilitary Party Committee for constantly increasing the national defencepower while fulfilling its economic assignments, thus contributing tothe nation’s socio-economic development./.
