BuenosAires (VNA) – Politburo member Vo Van Thuong and Argentine leadershave discussed measures to further boost cooperation between Vietnam andArgentina, especially in 2018 when they celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
During hisworking visit to Argentina from October 29 to November 1, Thuong, who is headof the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Information andEducation Commission, paid courtesy visits to Vice President and President ofthe Senate of Argentina Gabriela Michetti and Vice President of the Chamber ofDeputies Patricia Gimenez, and met Minister of Communication Hermann Lombardi.
He also heldtalks with Jorge Kreyness, Secretary in charge of International Affairs of theCommunist Party of Argentina, and met with Humberto Schiavoni, President of theruling party Republican Proposal (PRO).
At the talksand meetings, Thuong stressed that trade turnover enjoyed a tenfold increaseover the past 10 years, from around 300 million USD in 2006 to over 3 billionUSD in 2016.
He asked forcloser cooperation between the two sides to raise the figure to 3.5 billion USDthis year.
Argentineleaders hailed the significance of the CPV delegation’s visit, believing thatit will help intensify bilateral relations.
They expressedtheir hope for learning Vietnam’s experience in poverty reduction, disasterresponse, and information and communication.
They alsoexchanged views with the Vietnamese side on how to foster cooperation ineconomics, trade, investment, and intensify ties with the CPV in the timeahead.
AfterArgentina, the Party delegation will pay a working visit to Cuba. -VNA
