Hanoi (VNA) – General Secretary ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and ahigh-raking Vietnamese delegation left Hanoi on March 25 morning for anofficial visit to France.
During the March 25-27 visit, made at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the two sides are scheduled to sign a series of importantcooperation documents on defence, justice, space technology, intellectualproperty, climate change response and tourism, along with economic contractsworth tens of billions of USD.
Strategic plans andnew cooperation frameworks and mechanisms issued during the trip will developthe Vietnam-France strategic partnership.
The visit will also be an occasion to popularise Vietnam as a country with manyreform achievements, a trustworthy partner ready to bolster ties with France,an emerging market with numerous investment and business opportunities forFrench businesses and an attractive, safe and friendly destination for Frenchtourists.
Vietnam and France set up diplomatic ties on April 12, 1973. Overcomingups and downs in history, over the past 45 years, especially since theestablishment of the strategic partnership in 2013, Vietnam-France relationshave developed well.
Franceis an important European partner of Vietnam. It also respects Vietnam’s statureand contributions to peace, stability and development in the region and theworld. Vietnam’s membership of the ASEAN Economic Community and many free tradeagreements, including the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) and the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement(EVFTA), expected to take effect in the near future, will bring new cooperationchances for both countries.-VNA
