Party leader Do Muoi remembered with high praise

Hanoi (VNA) – Mournersof former General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) CentralCommittee Do Muoi at his State funeral in Hanoi were full of praise for theParty leader for his contributions to the Party and nation. 

General Secretary of the CPV Central CommitteeNguyen Phu Trong wrote in the funeral book that Do Muoi had made huge contributionsto national liberation, reunification and national construction and defence. 

Acting President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh wrote thathis passing has left a profound sorrow for Vietnamese Party, State and peopleand many friends and comrades worldwide. Later generations will always be gratefuland remember his life, career and dedication for independence, freedom andwell-being of Vietnamese people. 

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc highlighted theleader’s role in developing heavy industry and national industrialization andmodernization. The former Party General Secretary, with his view of “Vietnamready to be a friend of all countries,” had opened up a new era of externalrelations, making breakthrough strides in Vietnam’s external relations andglobal integration. 

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Nganremembered Do Muoi as a righteous, exemplary, talented and steadfast leader ofthe CPV, adding that his entire life was dedicated to national liberation andreunification, and for peace, prosperity and well-being of the people. 

President of the Vietnam Fatherland FrontCentral Committee Tran Thanh Man said over 80 years of his revolutionarycareer, the leader left deep impression on comrades and people in anyposition. 

Secretary of the Hanoi municipal Party CommitteeHoang Trung Hai lauded the leader for his leadership of the country’s reform,taking the national economy out of a difficult period, driving back inflation, shiftingfrom a State-subsidised economy to a socialist-oriented market economy andnormalising ties with countries worldwide. 

In Ho Chi Minh City, delegations fromministries, agencies, mass organisations, localities and people from walks oflife in the south came to Thong Nhat Hall since early in the morning to pay tributeto the former CPV General Secretary.

Secretary of the municipal Party CommitteeNguyen Thien Nhan said the municipal Party Committee and administration foreverremember the former Party chief’s support of the city since the early days ofDoi Moi to present.

86-year-old Nguyen Thi KimHong shared that Do Muoi is known as an honest and firm leader who always worksfor the country and the people.

Many religious representatives and youth unionofficials also expressed deep grief over his passing in the funeral book.-VNA
