Party General Secretary successfully wraps up China visit

Hanoi (VNA) – Party General SecretaryNguyen Phu Trong and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Hanoi onJanuary 15 afternoon, concluding their four-day official visit to China at theinvitation of Chinese General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

During the visit, Party General Secretary Trong held talkswith Party General Secretary and President Xi Jinping, and had meetings withChinese Premier Li Keqiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee ofthe National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's PoliticalConsultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng, and Secretary of the Party Central Committee’sCommission for Discipline Inspection Wang Qishan.

The Vietnamese Party leader also attended a function celebratingthe 67th anniversary of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations and the Lunar NewYear 2017.

The two sides signed 15 cooperation documents invarious fields and issued a 10-point joint communiqué.

Through the talks and meetings, the two sides informedeach other of the situation in each country, exchanged opinions and reachedconsensus on deepening the relationship between the two Parties and countriesin the new era. They also exchanged views on international and regional issuesof mutual concern.

The two sides held that Vietnam and China are twoneighbouring countries with long traditional friendship; both are socialistnations led by the Communist Party; and the sustainable development of eachcountry and the friendship and good cooperation are of great importance to bothnations.

The two sides consented that the Vietnam-Chinatraditional relationship nurtured by Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong andgenerations of leaders is a precious asset of the two Parties, States, andpeoples and need to be inherited, preserved and promoted in the new situation.

The two sides agreed to maintain and increase thetraditional exchanges of Vietnam-China high-ranking visits and contact, andmake the best of the coordination role of exchange and cooperation mechanismsbetween the two Parties and countries and deepen exchanges and cooperation indiplomacy, defence, security and law enforcement.

The two sides agreed to further boost practicalcooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, environment, science-technology andtransport, and encourage China’s major enterprises to invest in projectssuitable with Vietnam’s demand and sustainable development.

Vietnam recommended China to increase the import ofhighly competitive Vietnamese goods and create favourable conditions forVietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in China.

The two sides highlighted the need to promoteexchanges between the Vietnamese and Chinese people, especially younggenerations, to enhance their mutual understanding and friendship.

The two sides also frankly and sincerely discussedsea-related issues and agreed to boost coordination and cooperation atmultilateral frameworks, together preserving peace, stability and prosperity inthe region and the world.-VNA
