Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of international political parties and organisations worldwide have extended their congratulations to Nguyen Phu Trong over his re-election as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The well wishers included General Secretary of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka D.E.W. Gunasekara, General Secretary of Italy’s Communist Refoundation Party Paolo Ferrero, Secretary-General of Germany’s Social Democratic Party Katarina Barley and national secretary of the Swiss Party of Labour Amada Loset.

Congratulations also came from the French Social Party and the Italian Communist Party Committee in Venice.

Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum Klaus Schwab, Chairman of the Japan-Vietnam Association Shoei Utsuda, Chief Executive Officer and President of Sumitomo Corporation Kuniharu Nakamura, and CEO of Mitsubishi Corporation Ken Kobayashi have also offered their congratulatory messages.

Nguyen Phu Trong was re-elected as General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee at the 12th National Party Congress which took place in Hanoi from January 21- 28.

The Congress elected a 200-member Party Central Committee, including 180 official and 20 alternate ones.-VNA
