Phnom Penh, (VNA) – Party General Secretary NguyenPhu Trong has praised the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFA) forits diverse and creative activities to foster the solidarity, friendship andcooperation between the two nations.

Meeting with Chairwoman of the association Men Som On in Phnom Penh on July 21,he stressed that the robust growth of Vietnam – Cambodia relations over thepast 50 years is attributed to efforts made by the two countries’ localitiesand agencies at different levels, including the CVFA.

The Party chief wished that the CVFA and its Vietnamese counterpart wouldstrengthen coordination in organising more practical and effective activitiesfor the prosperity of each nation and the sustainability of the bilateral ties.

For her part, Men Som On, who is also Deputy Prime Minister of Cambodia, saidher association has spread information on the two countries’ fine relationshipto Cambodians from all walks of life, encouraging them to actively realisesigned cooperation agreements.

She detailed her association’s activities, including thearrangement of exchanges between Vietnamese and Cambodian former experts and soldierswho once fought for Cambodia’s freedom as well as events to boost cooperationand friendship between border provinces.

Men Som On expressed her gratitude for Vietnam’s great assistancefor Cambodia during its national protection and development cause.-VNA
