Party Central Committee outlines future goals

The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) wrapped up its 10th meeting in Hanoi on January 12 with a review of the leadership and direction of the Politburo and the Party Secretariat in 2014 and a discussion on a new roadmap for national development in 2016-20.


They examined the completion of the draft political report of the CPVCC (11th tenure), which is due to be submitted to the 12th National Party Congress to be held in 2016.
The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) wrapped up its10th meeting in Hanoi on January 12 with a review of the leadershipand direction of the Politburo and the Party Secretariat in 2014 and adiscussion on a new roadmap for national development in 2016-20.

They examined the completion of the draft political report of theCPVCC (11th tenure), which is due to be submitted to the 12thNational Party Congress to be held in 2016.

Based on theachievements of the 30 years of reform (1986-2015) and the five years ofimplementing the 12th National Party Congress’s Resolution(2011-2015), the Central Committee will work out a new roadmap fornational development.

Part of the CPVCC’s major task will be todetermine the direction and objectives to develop the country from2016-20, while revisiting issues related to the socialist-orientedmarket economy mechanism and to the country’s economic growth model inthe path towards industrialisation.

The CPVCC emphasised theneed for Party building, especially in efforts to prevent and curb thedegradation of political ideology, ethics and lifestyle among Partymembers.

Regarding civil service reforms, the Committee said itis important to improve existing staff and attract talented people towork for the Party and State agencies, organisations and public units.

The Committee also said more breakthrough mechanisms andpolicies are needed to improve the quality of public services, and speedup reforms of administrative and civil services to cut down onredundant jobs.

In terms of the development and management ofthe press, the Committee said it is necessary to promulgate acomprehensive plan by 2025.

It said the press should bedeveloped professionally and effectively to meet public demand forinformation, while uniting society and contributing to the developmentof the country and its people.

The State should issue policiesto ensure the press is not purely run for profit, not influenced byinterest groups, and prevent the privatisation of this sector, theCommittee proposed.

At the end of the meeting, Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong delivered a closing speech, urging the entireParty and people from all walks of life to build on past achievementsand realise the development goals set by the CPVCC.

He declared the 10th meeting a success which would encourage Vietnam to usher in 2015 with stronger will and motivation.-VNA
