Hanoi (VNA) – Ministerof Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son on October 8 handed over to the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee more than 3 billion VND (131,680USD) donated by overseas Vietnamese to support the country’s COVID-19 fight and the vaccine fund.
Addressing the handover ceremony, the minister said the sum this timewas raised by the Vietnamese communities and businesses in China, Russia, the UK,Israel, Japan and Switzerland, among other.
The assistance demonstrates solidarity, patriotism andthe spirit of ‘the haves helping the have-nots’ of Vietnamese people, he added.
He spoke highly of the timely and practical support from theVFF Central Committee in tasks related to OVs in the recent past, asking theorganisation to promptly deliver the money to localities in need.
To date, OVs have raised 29 billion VND to support COVID-19 prevention and control efforts.
On the morning of the same day, airconditioning manufacturer Daikin Vietnam presented 300 million VND to the COVID-19vaccine fund./.
