Addressinga ceremony in Paris on September 2, Vietnamese Ambassador to FranceDuong Chi Dung highlighted the increasing maturity of Vietnam-Francerelations, especially since the two countries signed a strategicpartnership agreement in September 2013 during Prime Minister Nguyen TanDung’s visit to France. The diplomat considered the bilateralrelationship as proof for Vietnam’s development and internationalintegration.

He highly valued the contributions made by the Vietnamese community to strengthening the bilateral ties.

Guestsemphasised the two countries’ relations. Bernard Miyet, former UnitedNations under-secretary-general for peace-keeping operations, said thehistoric ties connected the people of France and Vietnam. Heacknowledged Vietnam’s role in the international arena, and underlinedthe country’s contribution to building a better world by joining UNpeace-keeping missions.

In Germany, a ceremony was held at theVietnamese House (Viethaus) in Berlin with the participation ofrepresentatives from German ministries and parliament, and agenciesabroad.

Ambassador Nguyen Thi Hoang Anh hailed the success of theyear 2014, which has seen a number of exchange visits between the twocountries. The two countries are preparing for the 40 th anniversary oftheir diplomatic ties in 2015.

Clemens von Goetze from theGerman Foreign Ministry expressed his hope that the next year will bringmore opportunities to strengthen citizen exchanges between the twocountries. A German business conference for the Asian-Pacific region(APK) taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 20-22 is expectedto achieve breakthroughs in trade and investment for the two countriesas well as the region as a whole.

During an event in Cairo,Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung emphasised thesignificance of the August Revolution in 1945 for Vietnam and the world,and highlighted the country’s achievements over the past 69 years.

He also thanked the Egyptian government for its help in evacuating Vietnamese citizens working in Libya.

Thatsame day, National Day receptions were held by the Vietnameseambassadors to Algeria, Laos and Singapore. The diplomats acknowledgedthe friendships and mutual cooperation between Vietnam and therespective countries.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
