Nearly 47,500 visitors offered incense and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from February 2-10.

Hanoi (VNA) – Nearly 47,500 visitors offeredincense and paid tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum during theLunar New Year (Tet) holiday from February 2-10.

Of the figure, over 16,900 were foreigners.

During the most important annual festival in Vietnam, peopleoften commemorate their ancestors and those who rendered great services to thenation.

President Ho ChiMinh was born on May 19, 1890 in Kim Lien commune, Nam Dan district, thecentral province of Nghe An. He devoted all of his life to the nationalliberation cause while tirelessly striving for peace and progress in theworld. 

He led the nation to success in the struggle fornational independence and in establishing the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (nowthe Socialist Republic of Vietnam) following the August Revolution in 1945. ThePresident passed away on September 2, 1969.

The President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, opening tothe public on August 29, 1975, is an important landmark of Hanoi capital cityand stands integrated to the political and social history of Vietnam.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
