QuangNinh (VNA) – Ships between Co To island and Van Don port in themainland of the northern province of Quang Ninh have yet to resume operation onJuly 17 due to rough sea, leaving about 3,500 tourists stranded.

HoangBa, Secretary of the Co To district Party Committee and Chairman of the districtPeople’s Committee, visited visitors stuck on the island.

Healso asked hotel and hostel owners to facilitate and reduce room rates fortheir guests, who could not end their trips as schedule.

Thehuge waves were the result of the tropical storm Talas, which landed in thecentral provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh at around 1 am on July 17. More rainsof between 100-200mm were forecast for northeast and north central localitieson July 17 and 18.-VNA
