The figure represented 27 percent of the year's target.
In March alone, as many as 8,560 went abroad under working contracts,mostly to Taiwan, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and Middle Eastcountries.
Vietnam sent a record-high 105,840 guest workersabroad in 2014, 110 percent of the year's target, according tostatistics from the OLMD.
Compared to 2013, thenumber of Vietnamese guest workers sent to Taiwan increased to 62,000from 46,000, while those working in Japan rose from 9,600 to nearly20,000.
According to Nguyen Luong Trao, Chairman ofthe Vietnam Labour Export Association, last year the highest number ofguest workers went to Northeast Asia, around 90,000, accounting for 86percent of the total 40 labour-export markets.-VNA
