Hanoi(VNA) – More than 23 million students across the country, or one-fourth of thetotal population, started a new academic year on September 5.
Many Party and Stateleaders attended ceremonies to begin the new school year.
Before the date, manyschools in the northern and central regions have suffered from serious floods,but authorities have worked hard for students to start the new school year asscheduled.
In the 2018-2019 academicyear, the education sector will continue applying measures to strengthen Statemanagement and improve the quality of education, while building a safe, healthyand friendly education environment.
The sector will focuson developing pre-schools at industrial parks and export-processing zones,while finalizing preparations for the launching of new education programme andtextbook, especially for first-grade students. It will take steps to continueenhancing the quality of the national high-school examination, while reformingthe management mechanisms at high schools.
At the same time,tertiary education will concentrate on standardizing the quality of students tomeet the requirement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The efficiency ofcommunity-based education facilities as well as vocational training centres willalso be improved.
The sector will also workto complete targets set in a project to build a learning society.-VNA
