Over 2 bln USD to be poured into solid waste treatment

Around 44 trillion VND (over 2.3 billion USD) will be mobilised to build solid waste treatment plants nationwide between now and 2020, according to the Technical Infrastructure Department under the Ministry of Construction.
Around 44 trillion VND (over 2.3billion USD) will be mobilised to build solid waste treatment plantsnationwide between now and 2020, according to the TechnicalInfrastructure Department under the Ministry of Construction.

The money will be mobilised under the form of BOT(Build-Operate-Transfer) or BT (Build-Transfer) from central and localbudgets along with soft loans from the Vietnam Development Bank.

The 2010-2020 urban solid waste treatment programme targets having alllocalities equipped with solid waste treatment plants by 2020.

By 2015, 85 percent of the total urban solid waste volume will becollected and treated under environmental standards, of which 60percent will be recycled. The respective rates are expected to be 90percent and 85 percent five years later./.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.
