Over 12 bln VND raised for heart disease child patients

The hope for a better future is being realised for many Vietnamese children with inborn heart diseases nationwide, via a fund-raising programme which has been going on for four years as a joint effort of Vietnam Television, the millitary-run telecommunications group, Viettel, and the East Meets West Foundation.

The programme “Hearts for you” marked its fourth year at a ceremonybroadcast live on September 29 and raised 12 billion VND during onesingle night.

Over the past four years, the programme hasfunded heart surgeries for 1,400 child patients in need, provided healthcheck-ups for nearly 6,000 poor children in remote areas and boughtequipment for the surgeries, said the Hanoi Moi newspaper.

The Viettel group has committed 8 billion VND to the programme during two years 2012 and 2013.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
