Market management forces in southern localities handled 11,330 cases ofsmuggling and trade fraud in the first six months of this year, heard aconference in Binh Duong province on June 26.

Reports presentedat the conference show that smuggling, fake goods trade and trade fraudin the region was very complicated, with various forms. The smuggling ofcommodities, particularly tobacco and refined sugar was on the rise,especially in border areas.

Market management forces of An Giangand Tay Ninh provinces seized nearly 40 tonnes of sugar smuggledfrom Cambodia in the period.

Participants discussed andset forth plans to further their cooperation in the remaining months ofthe year, focusing on intensifying checks and inspections to preventand detect smuggling in border areas.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
