As many as 6.1 billion VND(2.68 million USD) was provided to more than 10,900 poor households to buildstandardised toilets, while more than 10,000 middle-income families were alsohelped to build toilets.
Currently, the project hascovered all 45 communes in Dong Thap’s 12 districts. A 30 percent rise in thenumber of families having sanitary toilets was seen in seven communes.
Dong Thap is one of eightlocalities nationwide benefiting from the project, along with Ninh Binh, HaiDuong, Thanh Hoa, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Tien Giang and Tra Vinh.
The CHOBA project, funded by East Meets Westfoundation, assists poor, nearly poor, and disadvantaged families in buildingnew sanitary toilets.
The project does not give finance directly to thehouseholds, but via award packs for families, which are delivered after theybuild hygienic toilets with preferential loans. Communes with an increase of 30percent in the number of sanitary lavatories will be presented with 64 millionVND.-VNA
