Outstanding Youth Faces Award 2016 winners named

The ten winners of the Vietnam Outstanding Youth Faces Award 2016 were named on March 10 following a meeting of the organizers, the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s Centre Committee and the Fund for Vietnam’s Young Talents.

Hanoi (VNA) – The ten winners of theVietnam Outstanding Youth Faces Award 2016 were named on March 10 following ameeting of the organizers, the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union’s Centre Committee andthe Fund for Vietnam’s Young Talents.

The International Physics Olympiad 2015 and2016 gold medalist Dinh Thi Huong Thao from the Hanoi National University’sUniversity for Natural Sciences has been chosen for the award in academicperformance.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor Tran XuanBach, the youngest associate professor in Vietnam recognised in 2016, who isworking at the Hanoi Medical University, won the award in the scientificresearch category. He was among the 20 young scientists selected to attend theWorld Congress on Public Health 2016 in Geneva.

In the category of creative work, Directorof the Early Start Company Dao Xuan Hoang who was honoured at the nationalfestival of youth innovation in 2016 and won first prize at the US Government’sGlobal Ideas Contest at Silicon Valley, will be awarded, along with Ta Dinh Huyfrom Hanoi who invented a multifunctional agricultural machine.

At the same time, Giang Seo Chau fromremote Man Than commune, Si Ma Cai district of the northern mountainous provinceof Lao Cai, and Director General of Viet Hung plastic company Hoang Anh Tuan werenamed for the award in the field of business and management.

The award in the category of security andsafety went to Hoang Anh Tuan, deputy head of the traffic control team number 2of Traffic Police Office of Bac Giang Police Department, while Le Kiem Son fromthe drug crime prevention and control office of the Ha Tinh Border Guard Commandwas the winner in defence category.

In the area of sport, disabled weightlifter Le Van Cong was honoured for winning Vietnam’s first gold medal at theParalympic 2016 in Reo de Janeiro, Brazil, while Tran Le Quang Tien who won theMozart international music award as he was 15, was selected as the outstandingface in culture and art.

An awarding ceremony is scheduled for March19 in Hanoi.-VNA

Bac Lieu, Korean locality sign labour cooperation agreement

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
