Hanoi (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Vu Xuan Hong has presented the insignia “For peace and friendship among nations” to outgoing Cambodian Ambassador Hul Phany in recognition of his contribution to the Vietnam-Cambodia ties.

Speaking at the awarding ceremony on July 22 in Hanoi, the VUFO President hailed the efforts that the Cambodian diplomat has made during his six years in office.

He expressed hope that the ambassador will continue working for the development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Expressing his honour to receive the noblest insignia of the VUFO, Ambassador Hul Phany noted that the governments of both countries have given specific directions to relevant agencies to prepare for the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia relations in 2017.

This is a chance for young people of both sides to get a deeper understanding of the traditional frienship and partnership between the two countries, that have always walked hand-in-hand in all missions of each country.

Hul Phany said he hopes that the sound all-round ties between Vietnam and Cambodia will continue to thrive and bear fruit.-VNA
