Yen Bai (VNA) – Politburo member and Chairwoman of the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Commissionfor Mass Mobilisation Truong Thi Mai on November 10 attended the great national unity festival inDong Song hamlet, Kien Thanh commune, Tran Yen district, the northern province of Yen Bai.
Up to 96percent of Dong Song hamlet’s population are Dao ethnicminority people. It has been recognised as a cultural hamlet with 86.4 percent of households earning the cultural status. In 2019, the hamelt’s poverty rate dropped to 4.6 percent andincome per capita reached 35.34 million VND (1,520 USD) per year.
Mai presented100 million VND funded by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to supportimpoverished children in Tran Yen district and 20 gift packages for poorstudents with good academic results in Kien Thanh commune.
The same day, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh attended the great national unityfestival of Tan An street, Tan Thanh ward, Ninh Binh city of Ninh Binh province, aimed at calling on all people to combatplastic waste and protect the environment.
Tan An is atypical street in Ninh Binhcity, where168 families live. This year, the street reported no criminal offencers, nodomestic violence case and no child dropping out of school. The street has beenkept clean and green and installed with public lighting and security cameras byits residents.
Addressing thefestival, Thinh hailed the street’s households for their achievements and urgedthe local authorities at all levels to further support the residents to reducepoverty sustainably, develop business and improve living standard.
She laterpresented 30 gift packages to cultural families and 30 scholarships for local students.
Minister-Chairman of the Government’s Committee for Ethnic Affairs Do Van Chienalso participated in a similar event of Voong Tre village in Binh Dan commune,Van Don district, the northern province of Quang Ninh, where over 95 percent ofthe population are from San Diu ethnic minority group./.
