Hanoi (VNA) – With no new cases of COVID-19 reported as of 6 a.m onOctober 23 morning, Vietnam has not seen any new infections in the communityfor the past 51 days, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19Prevention and Control.
The country has documented 1,148 SARS-CoV-2 infections so far.
Of the total, 691 were infected with the virus domestically, including 551linked with Da Nang city since the latest coronavirus wave began there on July25.
As many as 1,049 patients have recovered while 35 have died from complicationsrelated to the disease. Most of the fatalities were the elderly withserious underlying healthconditions.
Among the patients still under treatment, seven have tested negative forSARS-CoV-2 once, five twice and one thrice. Currently, there is no patient incritical conditions.
There are 13,652 people having close contact with confirmed cases or comingfrom pandemic-hit regions under quarantine at present, including 149 inhospitals, 12,421 in concentrated quarantine sites, and 1,082 at home oraccommodation facilities.
The COVID-19 pandemic may last until the end of 2021 as no vaccine has beenready so far, according to the World Health Organisation./.
