Hanoi (VNA) – Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper, the central organ of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), has launched a special page on “Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh and Things need to be done immediately”.

More than 30 articles by the late leader published on Nhan Dan Newspaper’s column “Things need to be done immediately” between 1987 and 1990 are now available on the special page at http://nguyenvanlinh.nhandan.vn.

The significance and values of the articles remain intact in the present cause of reform, national construction and defence, and Party building and rectification, said Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper and Vice Chairman of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education, at a seminar in Hanoi on April 24 marking the 25th death anniversary of the late Party chief (April 27, 1998).

"Comrade Nguyen Van Linh was an outstanding leader who pursued the motto of ‘words and actions go hand in hand’ and ‘theory is closely linked to practice’. During the fight against negative phenomena, he fully utilised the power of the press,” Minh stressed.

Therefore, the special page is expected to encourage the press to engage more actively in the combat, he continued.

Nhan Dan Newspaper will continue to add content and complete new features of the page to bring domestic and foreign readers comprehensive, intuitive and vivid information, the Editor-in-Chief noted.

Minh also expressed his hope that the newspaper will become a valuable source of reference on digital platforms for officials, Party members, people, experts, and international friends to learn about the late Party leader.

Sharing Minh’s views, General Director of the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP) Nguyen Hong Sam emphasised the values of the 31 articles written by the late Party leader, and suggested all-level leaders, officials and Party members to apply them in their jobs.

Associate Prof. Dr. Tran Minh Truong from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, said the articles clung on the reality and demonstrated the spirit of democracy, publicity, and frankness.

They received the warm response from the public and created changes in various aspects, especially in economic development and the stabilisation of people’s lives. They contributed to orienting the fight against negative phenomena and the purification of the apparatuses of Party and State agencies, he said.

Apart from the articles by Nguyen Van Linh, the page also features more than 200 others on the topic.

Lam expressed his belief that the page will be popular among officials, Party members and the public, and called on Nhan Dan Newspaper to continuously reform both content and format of the page, making it a forum for readers to exchange views on things to be done in the present context./.
