The number of foreignnon-governmental organisations (NGOs) active in Vietnam is on the risewith an aid value of over 300 million USD this year, reported theCommittee on NGOs during a conference in Hanoi on December 30.
During2014, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) welcomed 1,860 guests from 760 NGO delegations coming to launch developmentprojects.
A series of conferences and workshops were held toappeal for aid in and outside the country as well as connect sponsorsand NGOs with Vietnamese partners.
The committee released a codeof administrative procedures in five languages in support of NGOs whileenhancing personnel training at both central and local levels.
BesidesNGOs, it also raised funding in embassies, United Nations bodies,development cooperation agencies and business community.
VUFOVice President and General Secretary Don Tuan Phong, who is also deputyhead of the committee, said NGOs are shifting their developmentassistance to the fields of environment, climate change, capabilitybuilding and policy lobby.
Next year, the committee will furtherprovide NGOs with administrative, technical and legal assistance whileenhancing ties with development partners and promoting personneltraining in ministries, agencies and localities.
Concluding theevent, Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the committee Ho Xuan Sonurged involved agencies to work harder to make NGOs a channel thatsupports Vietnam in every domain, especially those related to thenational development.-VNA
Ministry tightens inspection of overseas labour service companies
The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs has announced plans to continue inspecting companies that provide overseas labour services in the final months of 2024.
