Hanoi (VNA) – A project on teaching Vietnamese online has just been approved by the Prime Minister with the goal of helping overseas Vietnamese to study their mother tongue via the internet and be confident in using the language.
The project will develop basic online programmes in six levels completed with homework and tests.
Associated learning materials will include phonetic guides, Vietnamese-English bilingual lessons, as well as handbooks on using Vietnamese in communication, tourism, commerce and gastronomy, among others.
A Vietnamese teaching and learning portal will be developed as part of the project.
In 2015, the overseas Vietnamese community consisted of roughly 4.5 million people across 109 countries and territories, according to Deputy Foreign Minister and Chairman of the State Committee on Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Vu Hong Nam.-VNA
