New inspection drive targets corruption

The National Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Combat has set up seven groups to scrutinise anti-corruption work at a number of ministries and localities from early June to late July this year.
The National Steering Committee for Corruption Prevention and Combathas set up seven groups to scrutinise anti-corruption work at a numberof ministries and localities from early June to late July this year.

Those undergoing inspections are the Ministry ofPlanning and Investment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, theMinistry of Construction and the Ministry of Natural Resources andEnvironment.

The ten scrutinised localities are VinhPhuc, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Thanh Hoa, Da Nang, Gia Lai, Lam Dong,Binh Duong, Kien Giang and Dong Thap.

Theinvestigators will examine anti-corruption measures and theinvestigation and handling of relevant cases, especially those ineconomics and of public concern.

They will alsofocus on orientations and measures to help ministries, sectors andlocalities address difficulties and limitations in the field.

The examinations, now in the third year, are beneficial for therevision of anti-corruption work in the 2011-2016 tenure and help theinvolved parties gain useful understandings in the field.

Between 2013 and 2014, the committee established 18 investigationgroups to scrutinise anti-corruption efforts in seven ministries and 19cities and provinces.-VNA
