HCMCity (VNS/VNA) - The planned new 55km-long route, or 827E axisroad, connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Long An and Tien Giangprovinces is expected to promote goods transport and tourismdevelopment in the southwestern region.
Theaxis road will start from Trung Luong intersection in Tien Giang provinceand end at Pham Hung street in Ho Chi Minh City.
Itincludes a 5.8km section in HCM City, a 34.5km section in Long An province, anda 14.2km section in Tien Giang province.
Totalinvestment is estimated at 20 trillion VND (nearly 863 million USD), sourcedfrom the local budget.
Constructionof three bridges across the Can Giuoc, Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers in LongAn province will cost about 2.2 trillion VND (nearly 95 million USD) from thecentral budget.
TheMinistry of Transport proposed adding the axis road to the nationalroad network plan and zoning plan for the southern key economic region.
Administrative proceduresand investment preparation for the axis road are expected to be completed nextyear. Construction is scheduled in the 2021-2025 period.
NguyenVan Duoc, Secretary of Long An province’s Party Committee, said the new axisroad would relieve traffic pressure on National Highway No 1A, the HCMCity-Trung Luong Expressway and other highways passing through theprovince.
Itwill bring the southwestern region closer to HCM City. “It will createfavourable conditions for us to make breakthroughs in economic development andattract more investment,” he said.
Atnearly 35km, the longest section of the new axis road will run through Chau Thanh,Tan Tru, Can Duoc and Can Giuoc districts in the province.
Theroad will pass through three communes in Tan Tru district, which is a peninsulaseparated from the mainland by Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers.
“Itwill open up a new development path,with economic benefits derived from the rivers,” he said.
TrinhPhuoc Trung, Vice Chairman of Tan Tru district’s People’s Committee, saidthat industrial development would take place along the Vam Co Dong River,and garden villas, residential areas, and ecotourism sites would be builtalong the Vam Co Tay river.
“Industrialdevelopment combined with tourism and services will boost thedistrict's growth,” he said.
NguyenHoai Trung, Deputy Director of Long An province’s Department of Transport, saidthe department is working with relevant agencieson the adjustment to the planning of the axis road’s section inthe province. The road will have 10 lanes with atotal width of 300 metres.
Theprovince is also completing legal procedures and calling for investmentfor three new bridges across the Can Giuoc, Vam Co Dong and Vam Co Tay rivers./.
