Nearly 280 Vietnamese citizens flown home from Europe

Close to 280 Vietnamese citizens in Romania, Poland and some nearby European countries have been repatriated on a flight that landed at the Da Nang International Airport, the central city of Da Nang, on July 22.

Hanoi2 (VNA) – Close to 280 Vietnamese citizens in Romania,Poland and some nearby European countries have been repatriated on a flightthat landed at the Da Nang International Airport, the central city of Da Nang,on July 22.

The passengers include children under 18, people withillnesses, elderly people, students who have completed their study and facedaccommodation difficulties, short-term visitors and workers with expired visaand working contracts.

The flight was arranged by authorised agencies of Vietnam, Vietnameserepresentative agencies in Romania, Poland, and the nearby European nations,the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, and competent agencies of the hostcountries.

As many countries have imposed travel restrictions to curbthe spread of the pandemic, Vietnamese representative agencies in Europe hadactively worked with the host countries’ authorities to prepare necessaryprocedures and instruct the citizens to move to airports in Bucharest andWarsaw to board the flight. They had also sent staff to the airports tocoordinate with the airlines and local authorities to assist the citizens inhandling relevant procedures.

Disease prevention measures were carried out during theflight. Upon landing at the Da Nang airport, the passengers received healthcheck-ups and were sent to quarantine centres in line with regulations.

In the time ahead, authorised agencies of Vietnam, thecountry’s overseas representative bodies and domestic airlines will conductmore repatriation flights with regard to pandemic developments, overseascitizens’ needs, and local quarantine capacity.

From April 10 to July 16, Vietnam organised 55 flightsbringing 13,323 citizens home from overseas in the face of the COVID-19pandemic, according to spokeswoman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le ThiThu Hang./.
