Vinh Phuc (VNA) - Nearly 13,000 children, including infants andstudents of preschools and primary schools, in the northern province of VinhPhuc are receiving screenings for early detection of congenital heartdiseases from June 2-5, on the occasion of the newly launched Action Monthfor Children 2020.
The event is co-organised by the provincial Fund for VietnameseChildren, the Hanoi-based E Hospital, VinaCapital Foundation’s HeartbeatVietnam programme, and BHFlex Vina Co., Ltd.
Through screening, children with suspected cardiac abnormalities willbe further examined and given free-of-charge ultrasound scanning by doctorsof E Hospital to identify the exact disease and determine appropriate treatment.
Those deemed to need surgery will receive help to complete relevantprocedures to apply for free operations with expenses to be covered by theHeartbeat Vietnam programme.
In 2019, the Fund for Vietnamese Children of Vinh Phuc organisedmedical checkups for approximately 24,000 children from newborn to primaryschool age, nearly 300 of whom were diagnosed with suspected congenital heartand cardiac diseases. The programme helped more than 30 children with innateheart defects get intensive examination and treatment, with nearly 20 receivingoperations at the Hanoi Heart Hospital and E Hospital./.
