Nearly 110,500 patients under treatment during New Year holiday

There were nearly 110,500 patients under treatment at medical establishments nationwide as of February 9 (the fifth day of the Lunar New Year), reported the Health Ministry’s Medical Services Administration.

Hanoi (VNA) – There were nearly 110,500patients under treatment at medical establishments nationwide as of February 9(the fifth day of the Lunar New Year), reported the Health Ministry’s MedicalServices Administration.

During the nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, check-upsand first aid were given to 45,960 patients while more than 31,400 others weresent to hospital and 2,900 underwent surgery.

As many as over 3,800 babies were born during the period and18,600 others were discharged from hospital.

From February 2-9, more than 40,900 people were hospitaliseddue to traffic accidents, accounting for 22.4 percent of the total, including161 fatalities.

Meanwhile, over 4,700 cases were given emergency aid due tofighting, making up 2.6 percent of the total. More than half of them were hospitalized,with 14 deaths.

There were 41 cases under treatment due to alcoholic drinks,down 28.1 percent.-VNA
