National Press Festival slated for mid-March

Hanoi (VNA) – The National Press Festival 2019 willtake place at the Hanoi Museum on March 15-17, announced the organisation boardon March 7.

Themed “Renovated, creative, responsible Vietnamese pressfor the interest of the nation and people”, the festival is jointly organised by the Vietnam Journalists’Association (VJA); the Party Central Committee Commission for Popularisation andEducation; the Ministry of Information and Communications; and the Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism.

It aims tohighlight the achievements of the national reform process and the growth ofVietnam’s revolutionary press, while strengthening the exchange betweenjournalists and the community and honouring individuals, collectives, andenterprises with outstanding contributions to the development of the country’srevolutionary press.

Along with various pavilions organised by central and localmedia agencies nationwide, the festival also includes a number of seminars andconferences, including those on journalist Huynh Van Tieng, a senior leader ofthe VJA; the press and culture; the press as a tool connecting business andgovernment; and the training of young journalists.

Within the framework of the festival, many exhibitions willbe held, along with activities to mark the establishment of the Ho Chi MinhCommunist Youth Union (March 26).

The organisation board will present awards to the mostimpressive pavilion; best Tet newspaper cover page; best e-paper display; bestTet (Lunar New Year) TV programme; best scientific research; and best reportageon the environment, climate change, and natural disaster prevention.

The opening of the festival will be aired live on VietnamTelevision, while the closing and award ceremony will be broadcast live on theHanoi TV and Radio Station. –VNA
