Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam NationalCoal-Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) completed itstwin target of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and maintaining production andbusiness in the first quarter of this year, according to its Chairman Le MinhChuan.
In the period, 22-25 percent of the corporation’smajor targets were fulfilled, with 10.4 million tonnes of coal churned out,11.63 million tonnes sold and over 30.21 trillion VND (1.28 billion USD) inrevenue gained.
The corporation contributed 6.6 trillion VND to theState budget, completing 35 percent of its yearly target, up 12 percentyear-on-year.
Thanks to new road header machines, Vang Danh CoalJSC, a subsidiary of Vinacomin, doubled its mining productivity to more than945,000 tonnes of coal, fulfilling 28 percent of its yearly target.
According to its deputy director Trinh Van An, although the company had set a target of producing 860,000 tonnes, itwill strive to churn out 900,000 tonnes to ensure supply for coal-fired thermalpower plants during the dry season.
To reach the target of producing 462,500 tonnes ofcoal in the second quarter, Mong Duong Coal JSC, another subsidiary ofVinacomin, will take flexible measures, including incentives towards labourersand cooperation with the Vietnam Coal and Mineral College in personnel training.
In the next quarter, Vinacomin expects to churn out10.2 million tonnes of coal, 345,000 tonnes of alumina, 29,100 tonnes ofrefined copper ore and 2.76 billion Kwh, and sell 12 million tonnes of coal.
Given the complex developments of COVID-19, Vinacominhas taken various measures to prevent the disease and maintain production andbusiness.
At the same time, the corporation has donated 15 billionVND to the fight against the pandemic, while its subsidiaries have providedfinancial support and medical equipment./.
