The Vietnamese Embassy in Tokyo, Japan held a ceremony on September 2 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.

The event drew the attendance of about 800 representatives from the Japanese government and local enterprises and diplomatic corps, including former Prime Minister Fukuda Yasuo, Minister of Justice Kamikawa Yoko and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Nakayama Yasuhide.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Nguyen Quoc Cuong briefed participants on important milestones in Vietnam’s efforts to gain independence as well as the modern socio-economic achievements of the country.

The ambassador appreciated the support from Japan for Vietnam in the past and the strong recent development of bilateral relations.

For his part, President of the Japan– Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Toshihiro Nikai highly spoke out of Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements in recent years. He also hoped the Vietnam-Japan relations would be further strengthened in the near future.

At the ceremony, participants also enjoyed the song “Nhu co Bac Ho trong ngay vui dai thang” ( There seems to be Uncle Ho on these victory days ) performed by students from the Japanese high school of Kashiwa.

On the same day, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka also hosted a ceremony to mark the important event, hosting Osaka’s Governor Ichiro Matsui, businessmen and officials from the prefecture.-VNA
